Victoria Mesa-Estrada

VICTORIA MESA-ESTRADA is an experienced trial attorney, who has litigated cases throughout the state of Florida and other states. She joined the Searcy Law team in 2022 and pursues personal injury, wrongful death, sexual assault and medical malpractice claims on behalf of injured victims. Ms. Mesa-Estrada has handled many notable cases throughout her legal career and in 2024 was one of the three Searcy law attorneys that co-led a team of six law firms from around the country in obtaining a $38.3 Million jury verdict in federal Court against a major U.S. Corporation.

In re: Chiquita Brands International, Inc. Alien Tort Statute and Shareholder Derivative Litigation, a jury found that the U.S. Corporation was accountable for their role and complicity in funding paramilitary groups in Colombia during the late 1990s, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent Colombians.  

Born in Colombia, Ms. Mesa-Estrada moved to Florida as a teenager with her parents and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002, double majoring in Political Science and International Relations from Florida International University.  In 2008, she earned her law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, where she also earned a Master of Laws in Intercultural Human Rights, cum laude. Ms. Mesa-Estrada is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Florida, and the Federal 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of The Florida Bar, where she serves on the Federal Practice and Professionalism Committees.

Ms. Mesa-Estrada began and spent the first decade of her legal career as a legal aid attorney representing agricultural and immigrant workers, filing several successful class actions on behalf of underpaid and exploited farmworkers and obtaining a $17.4 million verdict for sexual harassment, recorded as the largest in Florida history against an agricultural employer. She also litigated civil rights cases to challenge unconstitutional laws and practices that reinforce racial inequities in the justice system.

Committed to professionalism, civility and service, Ms. Mesa-Estrada is a member of the Board Directors of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, and past-president of the Palm Beach Chapter of the Florida Association For Women Lawyers and the Palm Beach County Hispanic Bar Association.  She is also an active member of the member of the Craig S. Barnard American Inn of Court and the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Law Association.

In 2022, The Palm Beach County Hispanic Bar Association awarded her its Justice Jorge Labarga Leadership Award recognizing and acknowledging Ms. Mesa-Estrada’s role in promoting excellence and diversity in the legal profession, making significant impacts in the Hispanic community through her legal service and for providing mentorship and serving as a positive role model for the HBA and the Hispanic community. In 2019. the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association awarded her its Bravo award, for her contributions to the Hispanic Community of South Florida.

In addition to her legal involvement, Ms. Mesa-Estrada is dedicated to improving the community at-large. She is a past board member of the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, where she served for ten years. In recognition of her leadership, in 2019 she was awarded by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County with its Esperanza award for her exceptional achievement in Community and dedicated service to the People of Palm Beach County.

In recognition of her national advocacy on behalf of farmworkers for equal access to opportunities and resources, in 2016 she was awarded the Leadership, Unity, Professional and Excellence Award by the National Partnership of Rural and Farmworker Organizations (MAFO).  

Ms. Mesa-Estrada and her family reside in Palm Beach County. Ms. Mesa-Estrada and her husband Luis Estrada are the proud parents of two daughters- Valeria and Maya. Victoria is an avid long-distance runner.
