DARRYL L. LEWIS is a partner/shareholder in the firm of Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley. For over 18 years, he has represented clients in personal injury and wrongful death claims in venues throughout Florida. Mr. Lewis has also represented clients in Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Washington. He is a member of The Florida Bar and The Kentucky Bar, and of the Federal Trial Bar for the Southern District of Florida.
Mr. Lewis has earned a national reputation as a trial attorney. He is named in The Best Lawyers in America, an independent study by Harvard University law professors. He is also recognized in Florida Trend magazine as one of "The Legal Elite" and named in the South Florida Legal Guide as one of Florida’s top young lawyers. In addition, Mr. Lewis is recognized as one of Florida’s Super Lawyers, an annual consumer’s guide published by Law and Politics.
Mr. Lewis has served two terms as a member of the board of directors of the Florida Justice Association, formerly known as The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, and is a recipient of The Academy’s Silver EAGLE award. He is also a member of the National Bar Association, the Palm Beach County Justice Association, formerly known as the Palm Beach County Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, and the Kentucky Academy of Trial Lawyers.
An inspiring public speaker, Mr. Lewis is invited to speak multiple times a year to lawyers from all over the country. Mr. Lewis often speaks before graduating classes, civic associations, and youth groups about issues affecting young people. He was selected by the former Governor of Kentucky to deliver the keynote address at the state’s second annual Martin Luther King Day celebration.
Mr. Lewis has served proudly in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Judge Advocate General (JAG Lawyer). He has achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is presently in the Inactive Ready Reserve.
A native Kentuckian, Mr. Lewis earned a bachelor of science degree, summa cum laude, from Kentucky State University. He received his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
