BRENDA S. FULMER joined Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley as a partner and shareholder in September of 2008.  Prior to that, she had practiced for 14 years with the Tampa law firm of Alley, Clark, Greiwe & Fulmer (formerly known as Alley & Ingram).  For the past 17 years, she has represented thousands of mass torts plaintiffs in both state and federal courts who have been injured by defective medical devices and drugs.  Prior to becoming a lawyer, she put herself through college and law school while working as a legal secretary, paralegal, and commercial real estate closing agent. 

Ms. Fulmer graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.S. in Finance, and received her Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Stetson University College of Law. She was an Assistant Editor of the Stetson Law Review, and twice earned recognition as an Outstanding Law Review member. She served as a Federal Judicial Intern with Judge Kovachevich in Tampa.  As a law student, she was involved in a number of pro bono projects as a Florida Bar Foundation Public Service Fellow and an intern with Gulf Coast Legal Services. 

Ms. Fulmer was recently named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association.  She is active in the Palm Beach County Bar Association, Palm Beach County Justice Association, Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Florida Justice Association (FJA), AAJ Women Trial Lawyer Caucus, Public Justice Foundation, Mass Torts Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice (AAJ), and various mass torts-related litigation groups and consortiums.  She serves on the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice as well as the Florida Justice Association.  She has also been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Civil Justice Foundation, and is the Secretary of the FJA Women’s Caucus. 

Ms. Fulmer is active in multi-district litigation discovery committee work for various national pharmaceutical and medical device mass torts projects, and has represented thousands of clients who have been injured by the following drugs and medical devices: 

She is also involved in litigating individual lawsuits stemming from other defective drugs and medical devices.

Ms. Fulmer is most proud of her pro bono efforts on behalf of Trial Lawyers Care, providing free legal services to families who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.  She is a frequent lecturer on mass torts topics to legal and consumer organizations, and has lobbied on behalf of her clients and in the civil justice system before the Florida Legislature and Congress.  

Ms. Fulmer has been an active volunteer with a number of charitable organizations, including:  Seagull Industries; Pre-Law Magnet, Inc. at Palm Beach Lakes High School; Special Olympics; Buddy Break; Habitat for Humanity; Big Heart Brigade; Girl Scouts; Coastal Boxer Rescue; Muscular Dystrophy Association; PACE Center for Girls; Dwyer High School; Marsh Pointe Elementary School; and Place of Hope.  She is currently 44 years old, and has been married to Robert Fulmer since 1985.  She is the proud parent of Molly, age 15, and several foster children.
